Lord & King Construction is owned by husband and wife team, Tony and Tobi Hester. Tony has been active in residential construction for over 25 years. He began his career in construction framing homes and with years of hands on experience and commitment he has gained first-hand knowledge in virtually every area of home building and level of complexity. Tobi has worked alongside Tony every step of the way. With a degree in business administration and accounting, Tobi provides administrative support for Tony and contributes to the financial management of the company. Quality of work, maintaining schedules, and controlling costs are top priority.

Tony is passionate about building relationships and homes. Your new home is not a project or a job, it is where you live, grow, and love. Your new home should be personalized with features that fit your needs and lifestyle. Weather you have that southern plantation style property or ranch and farm acreage, we can help you build the custom log and timber home perfectly suited just for you.

Operating with integrity and excellence, while maintaining good communication with homeowners, ensures a pleasant and positive building experience. At Lord & King Construction we understand that building your home is so much more than a construction process. It is planning your future, making memories, and leaving a legacy.

get rid of guesswork…

…and get started on your dream home! We like to start the home building process with the discovery phase. We must first discover the design of your home, the wants for your home, and what fits in your budget. These are the three driving forces that will determine what you should build, how to get the most out of your budget, and where to set your expectations. Let’s examine the three driving forces a little closer:

THE DESIGN

Generally, a 2,000 square foot, single-level home with a wraparound porch will cost more than a 2,000 square foot, two-story home. The one level home has double the foundation, twice the roof area, and more wall area, which ultimately leads to increased cost-to-build.

YOUR WANTS

Tile showers, log walls, exposed beams, quality wall-coverings, metal roof, HE appliances, cabinets, cypress decking, heavy timbers, hardwood flooring, and so on… these are the items you really want in your home. But don’t get carried away! We still need to talk about…

YOUR BUDGET

If your budget is unlimited… well, congratulations; you’re one of a fortunate few. Unfortunately, most of us have a budget, and a strict one at that.  This is where the rubber meets the road, and where you must balance your wants with what is financially feasible.

If all of these things line up, we are in great shape! If they don’t line up, don’t be discouraged. That’s what we’re here for. We help you take a little out of one driving force and allocate those resources toward another driving force. These types of decisions are often difficult and stressful for clients, first-timers and veterans alike. Lord and King Construction can help you examine the circumstances, take into account the relevant factors, and make the choices that will help you move into your dream home.

Log Homes

Time and trends mean nothing to the perennial beauty of log homes.  The most basic of construction, yet the most dynamic of structures, log homes are a favorite of those people who long for simple comfort and beautiful design.  Hand-crafted or milled logs of eastern white pine or other species are used with the utmost precision to create a home that uniquely fits your personality and lifestyle.

Hybrid Homes

A hybrid home utilizes conventional stick-built construction to provide the super structure of the home. Typically, some degree of timber frame is also included in the construction. The timber frame is employed in specific areas of the home where “the wow factor” is most desired, such as in the great room, kitchen and dining areas. The remainder of the home can be constructed without the use of timber or with limited use of timber.

Timber Frame Homes

Timber frame homes feature large structural wooden beams visible throughout the interior which act as the structural skeleton of the home. The timbers are cut to fit together and connect with specialized joinery such as mortise-and-tennon connections held tightly together by wooden pegs. The timber frame serves the dual role of providing structure for the home as well as artistic beauty. Timber frame construction techniques have been used for hundreds of years throughout the world.
